Step 1: There is parking available along the Pontneathvaughan Road, stretching out from the Angel Inn in Pontneddfechan.
Step 2: Along with the Angel Inn you can also get refreshments across the road at Sgwd Gwladys.
Step 3: Turn left behind the Angel Inn. Here you can find public toilets, including accessible ones, plus an information board.
Step 4: Go through the large ‘Waterfall Country’ gate.
Step 5: You’re immediately alongside the River Neath and it’s amazing geology. The steep sides give you a glimpse of the gorges to come.
Step 6: The path is mostly flat for this first stretch.
