Step 1: This walk starts at the free long stay car park off Howling Lane, 42 Alwynside, Alnwick NE66 1DL. The nearest train station is Alnmouth.
Step 2: Exit car park and continue towards Alnwick Town along Howling Lane.
Step 3: Pottergate Tower is just up ahead. It was formerly part of the town's medieval defences.
Step 4: The tower was rebuilt in 1768 to a design by a Mr Henry Bell. It used to have a crown spire, which was removed in 1812. You can now book it as a holiday cottage! Just search online if interested.
Step 5: Continue down Argyle Place, a rather picturesque street.
Step 6: You’ll pass by the 300 year old, St James church on your left. Notice the plaque placed by the Duke of Northumberland on your left.
