Step 1: This jaunt starts off Bay View in Amble. There is a long stay car park just here. The path is mostly flat but caution is needed.
Step 2: Amble grew in the 19th century as collieries were opened. Newly built railway links to the Northumberland coalfields made the town a centre for the sea transport & export of coal. It’s now a fishing and water sports town.
Step 3: This path leads to the pier. In bad weather do not go onto the pier for your own safety. The beach is on your left hand side. Keep right.
Step 4: The beach is not dog friendly or accessible but it looks pretty. Continue ahead.
Step 5: Spot the lovely front gardens on your right. We loved the use of driftwood for garden decoration.
Step 6: Continue ahead and veer left onto the pier — in good weather only! :)
