• Step 1: A fine 6 mile walk with four commons and the appropriately named Happy Valley. Waymarking is very good throughout. There are a few sharp ups and downs. Walking is on tarred or stony tracks, as well as grass or earth footpaths.

• 

  Step 2: Leave the 403 bus stop at Hamsey Green. Turn left into Tithepit Shaw Lane - having crossed the road if arriving from the north.

  Step 3: Walk along the lane until it curves left. There go straight on along a stony path to the left of the field.

• 

  Step 4: Continue along the clear path ignoring turns. Curve slightly to the right.

• 

  Step 5: Continue until you pass a trig point just by the left of the path.

• 

  Step 6: About 200 m after the trig point turn left at the Loop signpost. Walk down the field with a hedge to the right. The path drops more steeply.
