• Step 1: This is a varied 9 mile walk with some gradual ups and downs through woods, parkland and along a river. Waymarking is intermittent and missing at key points.

• Step 2: Leave Cockfosters Station by the stairs to Cockfosters Road. Turn right out the station then immediately right into the car park.

• 

  Step 3: Head at once to the left of the car park to find the start of the path through a metal gate into the trees.

• 

  Step 4: The path runs between fences with the car park on the right and a cemetery on the left. Keep ahead.

• Step 5: Keep ahead, crossing the drive leading to the cemetery extension in the field on the right.

• 

  Step 6: Go through a gap in the hedge into a field. After 2o metres turn left. Cross the ditch and go through the trees.
