Step 1: This walk starts at Welshpool station on the Cambrian Line. It’s served by trains to and from Birmingham International & Machynlleth.
Step 2: This is a circular walk that leads us along canal towpaths and to Powys Castle. Please note that dogs are NOT allowed in the deer park, so if you have dogs you can’t complete the circular walk.
Step 3: The other thing to note is that the gates to the park from Red Lane are locked during the night. Therefore this isn’t suitable as an evening / night-time walk.
Step 4: Exit the station towards Severn Road. There is a café and toilets in the old station arcade.
Step 5: Cross over Severn Road and continue straight ahead at the roundabout.
Step 6: Continue ahead along Severn Road.
