Step 1: Start this walk outside Saint Mary‘s Parish Church on North Road (NE20 9UH). The nearest bus stop is on Main St (No. 74, 75, 77, 78 79). Please note that the farmland section from step 38 may be muddy in wet or wintry weather.
Step 2: Livestock also graze in the latter half of the walk so please keep dogs under control. Some small country roads and tracks too.
Step 3: The present Saint Mary‘s Parish Church building is a mixture of Norman and 13th Century architecture. Let’s take a look before we head off. This area is also a former Anglo Saxon settlement.
Step 4: Look out for the Adam and Eve carvings and the Saxon grave marker cross built into the south wall of the tower.
Step 5: Outside the church, take the path to the right.
