  Step 1: This walk starts in Symonds Yat West by the hand-pulled ferry crossing. Use the ferry if starting from Symonds Yat East.

• 

  Step 2: With the river and the ferry crossing on your left, head onto the single track lane and follow it as it bends right.

• 

  Step 3: Look out for steps with a handrail to your left and head onto this path. The first section is steps with a garden fence to your left.

• 

  Step 4: At the base of the steps follow the earth path through the wooded area.

• 

  Step 5: Emerge from the trees onto a very narrow path which can be over overgrown like this in late spring / summer.

• 

  Step 6: You may well have heard the rapids on the River Wye before you see them. Thousands of canoeists navigate these rapids every year.
