• 

  Step 1: This linear walk starts at Welshpool station on the Cambrian Line. It’s served by trains to and from Birmingham International & Machynlleth.

• Step 2: This linear walk is mostly flat but goes alongside a canal on a narrow footpath. We endeavour to avoid steps. Bring a picnic and make an afternoon of it.

• 

  Step 3: Exit the station towards Severn Road. There is a café and toilets in the old station arcade.

• 

  Step 4: Cross over Severn Road and continue straight ahead at the roundabout.

• 

  Step 5: Continue ahead along Severn Road. You’ll walk past a police and fire station on your left.

• 

  Step 6: At the Montgomery Canal, turn left down the tarmac track.
