    Step 1: Start this walk outside Saint Mary‘s Parish Church on North Road (NE20 9UH). The nearest bus stop is on Main St (No. 74, 75, 77, 78 79).

  • Step 2: The present Saint Mary‘s Parish Church building is a mixture of Norman and 13th Century architecture. Let’s take a look before we head off. This area is also a former Anglo Saxon settlement.

  • Look out for the Adam and Eve carvings and the Saxon grave marker cross built into the south wall of the tower.
