• Step 1: There is a steady climb through suburban roads at the start but then easy walking. Great when the lavender is in flower. There are more stiles than usual. Waymarking is helpful but not always present at key points.

• 

  Step 2: Leave Coulsdon South Station from platform 1. Go down the steps, over the crossing and then right under the two bridges.

• 

  Step 3: Go over Cane Hill Drive. Stay on the left hand pavement to fork left on Lion Green Road just after some traffic lights.

• 

  Step 4: Continue along the road passing blocks of flats and a car park.

• 

  Step 5: Pass the Post Delivery Office and cross Chipstead Valley Road. Then continue ahead, slightly left, up Woodman Road.

• 

  Step 6: The road bends left. Just after the bend go right at the Loop sign on a footpath.
