Step 1: We start this walk around the RSPB site at the car park, the far end of the estuary.
Step 2: The car park also includes plenty of space to lock up your bikes.
Step 3: If you’d rather travel by public transport the closest train station is Rochford, around 6.6 miles from the reserve.
Step 4: Alternatively the closest bus stop is Loftman’s Corner, Canewdon, which is 2.5km from the reserve entrance. Bus 60 runs here from Southend-on-Sea.
Step 5: We follow the signs to the Marsh Flat Trail, which will take us part of the way to Beagle viewpoint.
Step 6: Our first glimpse of the water that covers most of the landscape.
