Step 1: Welcome to Birmingham’s Highbury Park. The park was created in 1933 from the joining together of three historic estates; Henburys, Highbury and Uffculme. Come along and see what we can discover today!
Step 2: Fun fact: The Uffculme Estate was built by Richard Cadbury, the chocolate manufacturer, in 1891. In 1916 part of the Uffculme estate was presented by the Cadburys to the City.
Step 3: Our walk begins at the car park, accessible from Shutlock Lane at the south end of the park.
Step 4: With the car park behind you, begin by walking down the paved road to your right.
Step 5: Looking out into the park, you’ll see the Hay Meadow.
Step 6: For the last few years, the mowers have been paused in this area allowing the grasses and flowers to bloom before being cut at the end of Summer. There are 10 species of grass as well as Lady’s Smock and 3 sorts of buttercup.
