Step 1: Welcome to Cannon Hill Park. There’s an amazing range of activities, facilities and natural features to explore.
Step 2: The walk begins at the west side of the park, by the bridge over the Rea from Queen’s Ride. If you’re arriving by car, park at the Holders Lane Car Park and skip to step 39.
Step 3: Originally donated to the citizens of Birmingham by Louisa Ryland, Cannon Hill Park was opened to visitors in 1873, and was designed by TJ Gibson, who also designed Battersea Park in London.
Step 4: Louisa Ryland hoped the park would help the people of Birmingham enjoy their recreation and keep healthy, a legacy that is still going strong.
Step 5: The park itself includes 80 acres of formal parks, as well as 120 acres of conservation and woodland. It’s a brilliant place to enjoy a walk, run or cycle, or just to sit and relax.
Step 6: Once you’ve gotten a good look at the map, start by walking away from it into the park. Take your first right on the paved path.
