Twisted Oak & Alphin Brook Loop

Walk preview

1. 

   Step 1: Welcome to the Twisted Oak! This walk is a short jaunt starting and ending at the pub, so it’s perfect for refreshments before or after.

2. 

   Step 2: Facing the pub, begin by heading to the left, towards the “curly-wurly” bridge over the A30 that heads to Ide.

3. 

   Step 3: Just before the bridge, look for a small footpath to the left. Don’t go up and over the bridge but instead take this footpath…

4. 

   Step 4: Continue under the curls of the bridge above.

5. 

   Step 5: For a stretch, this path follows along the Alphin Brook. It can be muddy during wet seasons.

6. 

   Step 6: Take a moment to enjoy the lush woodland, and the way the dappled light shines through before you continue.
