  • Step 2: On this walk, we'll be exploring the Runnymede National Trust site. It can be muddy in the winter, so wear comfortable waterproof shoes.

  • When you're ready, let's head out! Exit through the ticket barriers and head over to the main road, Station Road. Turn right.

  • Follow Station Road until the pedestrian light at Church Road. Cross over the road when safe to do so. Continue ahead.

  • Pass straight through the pedestrianised plaza, walking towards the gorgeous Old Bank building straight ahead.

  • Step 6: Stop to admire the bank building. Thomas Ashby opened a bank in Staines in 1796 and a branch in Egham in 1866. Ornate engravings on the building show the dates of the Ashby bank's founding (1796) and a rebuild date of 1896.
