Step 1: Start at the Clifton toll booth and walk through the old turnstile.
Step 2: If you choose to arrive by public transport, buses U2, M2 & 71 stop nearby.
Step 3: The Clifton Suspension Bridge was designed by 23 year old Isambard Kingdom Brunel. It took over 30 years to complete. It was opened in 1864 as a memorial to Brunel who died before it had been completed.
Step 4: When you reach the golden covered double nuts you are in the middle of the bridge.
Step 5: From where the chains disappear they go 20 metres into the ground where they are bolted to the rock. These are called the anchorages.
Step 6: Continue walking along the pavement. On your left you’ll notice Burwalls House.
