• Step 1: This is one of a series of mud-free walks that are of medium length and off - road. They are suitable for winter days when the weather has been wet. The walks have good public transport links.

• 

  Step 2: Enter Hayes Galleria opposite the main entrance to London Bridge station in Tooley Street.

• 

  Step 3: Walk right through the Galleria to the Thames, then turn right. Walk past HMS Belfast to Tower Bridge.

• 

  Step 4: Walk under the arch at the south end of Tower Bridge. Continue ahead along Shad Thames.

• 

  Step 5: Shortly turn left along the alley called Maggie Blake’s Cause. Walk to the riverside and turn right.

• 

  Step 6: Walk along the side of the river and continue ahead as it broadens. You pass reminders of the past such as a propeller and an anchor.
