• Step 1: This is one of a series of mud-free walks that are of medium length and largely off - road. They are suitable for winter days when the weather has been wet. The walks have good public transport links.

• 

  Step 2: Leave Embankment station by the riverside exit and turn right along Embankment under the bridges.

• 

  Step 3: Cross the end of Northumberland Avenue at the lights and keep ahead into the Embankment gardens.

• 

  Step 4: Walk through the gardens passing the statue of William Tyndall at the far end.

• 

  Step 5: Leave the gardens down the steps. Cross Horseguards Avenue to keep ahead through the next section of the gardens.

• 

  Step 6: You pass a series of military memorials including one to the Fleet Air Arm.
