• 

  Step 1: Woolwich on the Elizabeth Line is the nearest station to the starting point. Head on the central path in front of the station.

• Step 2: Follow the path across the open space as it bears right.

• 

  Step 3: From the large cannon, bear slight right to follow the broad avenue (Number 1 Street) down to its end at the riverside.

• Step 4: Once you reach the water, turn left along the Thames Path when you reach the group of life-size iron figures in front of the entrance to a pier.

• 

  Step 5: You’ll soon reach the start of Section 1 - the southern exit of the Woolwich foot tunnel (built in 1912).

• Step 6: Walk on, curving left then right staying as close to the river as possible. Then cross the approach road to the Woolwich ferry at the pedestrian crossing. Turn right on the opposite side to get back to the riverside.
