• Step 1: Skip the tube and walk from Islington to the shops and bars of Covent Garden via Exmouth Market, Lambs Conduit St and Lincoln's Inn Fields. Find out more at www.footways.london

  Step 2: Start at Angel, Islington, named after an Inn that stood here between 17th and late 18th century, until the New Road cut through it.

  Step 3: The building that stands on the site of the Inn was the flagship Lyons Cafe in the 1920s and 1930s.

• 

  Step 4: With seating for 300 it was a popular meeting place.

• 

  Step 5: Continue down St John Street and right onto Chadwell Street.

• 

  Step 6: Beautiful Myddelton Square was laid out in 1820s to 1840s in Georgian style.
