Step 4: The brainchild of Prince Albert and his colleague Henry Cole, the Great Exhibition of 1851 was the catalyst for the cultural region we know today.
Step 5: Prince Albert had high hopes for the Exhibition, stating that is aim was ‘the unity of mankind.’
Step 6: He decided on Joseph Paxton’s huge glass house design- the Crystal Palace- to house the Exhibition.
