Southampton’s D-Day Trail

Walk preview

1. 

   Step 1: If starting at Southampton Central Station, exit from the platform one side onto the small pedestrian area. There are toilets here.

2. Step 2: This route contains swipe up panels with details on the key Southampton locations in the lead up to D-Day. Look out for them throughout the route to find out more. Skip ahead to step 16 if you're not starting at the station.

3. Step 3: This walk is step-free. There are dropped kerbs throughout except at step 100. This kerb ends and has a flat section - it is likely still accessible for most buggies, wheelchairs and mobility scooters but please check this step.

4. 

   Step 4: Turn right by the roadside of Southbrook Road and walk along the smooth path. Left is some wonderful street art created with special paint.

5. 

   Step 5: Continue along the path, past the entrances to the car parks. There is a slight camber here but no steps or kerbs to navigate.

6. 

   Step 6: For a quick green detour, turn right onto the tarmac path to enter Blechynden Terrace Gardens.
