  Step 1: Our walk begins at Forest Hill railway station on the South Circular (A205). Leave the station forecourt and turn right onto the main road

• 

  Step 2: Follow the A205 under the railway bridge to find Lionel Stanhope's mural, crowdfunded in 2018, and featuring the famous Horniman walrus

• 

  Step 3: After the bridge, take the first road on your right, Waldram Place. Our next landmark is at the opposite end

• 

  Step 4: As the Glenlyn Ballroom in the 1960s, this venue played host to The Who, The Kinks, The Hollies and the Rolling Stones, among many others

• 

  Step 5: Now a banqueting venue, the Glenlyn has gained a slightly different lustre...

• 

  Step 6: Turn left to rejoin the A205, then continue past the row of shops to your right
