Step 1: The walk starts from the watersports centre by Hollingworth Lake. There are frequent buses to here from Rochdale (served by trains and trams). Smithy Bridge train station, with step-free access, is also just 1/2 mile (650 m) away.
Step 2: Please note that parts of this walk may be damp, muddy and slippery at any time of year and especially after periods of wet weather. Please bear this in mind when planning your trip.
Step 3: Start from the tourist information sign near the watersports centre, cafe and toilets (including accessible toilets using a Radar key).
Step 4: Cross the road that gives access to the lake itself via dropped kerbs. Turn right past the picnic tables near the accessible parking bays.
Step 5: Walk along the level hard-surfaced lakeshore path. There is a metal railing to the right and a low wall to the left.
Step 6: Already there are glorious views over Hollingworth Lake, the largest body of water in Greater Manchester.
