• Step 1: The walk starts from the watersports centre by Hollingworth Lake. There are frequent buses to here from Rochdale (served by trains and trams). Smithy Bridge train station, with step-free access, is also just 1/2 mile (650 m) away.

• 

  Step 2: Start from the tourist information sign near the watersports centre, cafe and toilets (including accessible toilets using a Radar key).

• 

  Step 3: Cross the road that gives access to the lake itself via dropped kerbs. Turn right past the picnic tables near the accessible parking bays.

• 

  Step 4: Walk along the level hard-surfaced lakeshore path. There is a metal railing to the right and a low wall to the left.

• 

  Step 5: Already there are glorious views over Hollingworth Lake, the largest body of water in Greater Manchester.

• 

  Step 6: After a path joins from the left, continue along the level path, still with a railing to the right.
