• Step 1: The walk starts from the watersports centre by Hollingworth Lake. There are frequent buses to here from Rochdale (served by trains and trams). Smithy Bridge train station, with step-free access, is also just 1/2 mile (650 m) away.

• Step 2: 🕵️‍♂️ Embark on an exciting adventure with the Cryptid Detective Agency at Hollingworth Lake! As you journey around the picturesque lake, keep an eye out for strategically placed QR code signs. Is there really a monster in the lake? 🐍

• Step 3: Please note that parts of this walk may be damp, muddy and slippery at any time of year and especially after periods of wet weather. Please bear this in mind when planning your trip.

• 

  Step 4: Start from the tourist information sign near the watersports centre, cafe and toilets (including accessible toilets using a Radar key).

• 

  Step 5: Time to look for your first clue 🕵️‍♂️

  Step 6: Cross the road that gives access to the lake itself via dropped kerbs. Turn right past the picnic tables near the accessible parking bays.
