  Step 1: The starting point and end point of this circular walk is the Town Hall (CM15 8AY). You may like to read the plaques nearby before starting.

• 

  Step 2: Walk along Ingrave Road towards Shenfield Common, cross over at the lights and turn right into Seven Arches Road.

• 

  Step 3: You may notice large growths of mistletoe in some trees along Ingrave Road. Mistletoe is a parasite which partially lives off its host tree.

• 

  Step 4: From the centre of the common, notice the number of mature trees which surround the perimeter.

• 

  Step 5: The Mill Pond is arguably the jewel in the crown of Shenfield Common. It acts as a magnet for human visitors and for wildlife.

• 

  Step 6: Turning to face the woodland area, head towards the middle where you should see a carriageway through the woods open up. Take this path.
