Step 1: Your walk begins here at Merrymeade Country Park & takes you to Shenfield Station, where there are fantastic public transport options.
Step 2: Merrymeade is a 34 hectare site, made up of a range of habitats from grasslands, a small wood, scrub & wetland habitats such as ponds & a stream.
Step 3: The pond on your left is of great importance as it’s home to a population of great crested newts.
Step 4: There are grasslands on your left. They’re only cut twice a year with the aim to improve diversity of grasses & flowers found on this site.
Step 5: Keep a look out for the Essex Skipper & Meadow Brown butterflies that can be found on the site. 🦋
Step 6: You’ll soon arrive at a wooden footbridge with a metal hand rail on the left. Head across here to continue.
