  Step 1: The start is in Hermitage Lane near the Prince Albert pub. Don't park in the lane! Parking available at Stag Meadow. Walk along the lane.

• 

  Step 2: Go through gate into Great Park. Note pedestrian entrance to cemetery on left which leads to Stag Meadow.

• Step 3: Follow the path ahead for a few metres to the rise. This bank is part of the Bourne Ditch flood defences. The return route approaches from the left along the bank.

• 

  Step 4: From top of the bank head 10 o’clock towards the bridge and cross the ditch.

• 

  Step 5: Standing on bridge, aim for 11 o'clock keeping the open park on your right and mature trees on your left. Follow the trodden path.

• 

  Step 6: Keep the big oak on your right and bush on your left.
