• Step 1: This route forms part of the Colchester Orbital, a 14-15 mile walk around town, linking some of its most important & beautiful green spaces. This walk is an easier access route.

• Step 2: This route section offers easier access for mobility-restricted walkers & chair users (paths are level & hard-surfaced, mostly off-road & barrier free).

• Step 3: Your walks starts on Berechurch Road. There is a bus stop close to the start, 300m south of the Roman away flyover. Buses 50, 50A, 50B, 63, 63A & 69 all stop here.

• Step 4: To begin the walk, head south on Berechurch Road (away from the direction of the flyover).

• 

  Step 5: As you begin to walk there will be a war pillbox to your right.

• 

  Step 6: You’ll soon reach a wooden signpost. You need to go right, following the Layer Road arrow.
