Step 1: One of two Colchester Borough Council ‘easy access trail’ connecting with the Colchester Orbital - a 14-15 mile walk around town, linking some of its most important & beautiful green spaces.
Step 2: There is a designated accessible parking space on Chase Lane. The trail runs from this point gently downhill to a picnic spot on the River Colne, with tables & benches.
Step 3: There will be a decorative board by the car park. Take the path here to begin your jaunt.
Step 4: Cymbeline Meadows has been owned by Colchester Borough Council since 1988. You’ll notice an abundance of habitats including pasture, woodland & wild flower meadows. It’s home to otter, water vole & kingfisher too.
Step 5: The trail runs for around 375m. It’s gently downhill, initially alongside the tennis courts, then following the hedgerow down to the river.
Step 6: Here there will be a large wooden kissing gate. Suitable for wheelchairs, though possibly not larger mobility scooters or Trampers.
