  Step 1: A gorgeous one hour walk, almost 9000 steps, with three options to stop for refreshments: a restaurant, a pub and a glorious cafe by river.

  Step 2: John Scamell, a remarkable amateur photographer from St Denys, brings us daily reminders of the beauty surrounding us!

  Step 3: Start at Woodmill Lane SO18 which has two nearby carparks, also accessible by buses going to Swaythling, near the University Southampton.

• 

  Step 4: If you drive, this free car park is just off Woodmill Lane, not far from the Woodmill Cafe by the river.

• 

  Step 5: However you arrive, go through the car park gate towards the playground.

• 

  Step 6: Head straight ahead towards the far end of the green playground.
