Step 1: This walk begins at Longniddry Station which provides a 20-minute link to Edinburgh, with connections east to North Berwick and beyond.
Step 2: It is also the start point of a leafy countryside walk to the market town of Haddington, following the old branch line, which was discontinued during the Beaching rail cuts of the 1960s.
Step 3: That walk is for another day. This time you are off down the ramp, and aiming for the first exit on Lyars Road.
Step 4: You are continuing along Lyars Road for 1k, heading towards the sea.
Step 5: On your way you will pass one of the gates to Gosford House and Estate.
Step 6: This is the seat and home of the Earl of Wymss family, a 19th century house set in 5000 beautiful acres of coastal and park land.
