• Step 1: Waymarking on this 5.3 mile walk is generally good but plant growth may obscure key signs. There are several stiles some of which are quite high. The field paths and woodland tracks can be quite muddy after wet weather.

• 

  Step 2: Join bus U9 at stop L by Uxbridge station. Leave it at Belfry Avenue in West Harefield. Follow the Loop sign down Park Lane.

  Step 3: Take the second right into Summerhouse Lane.

• 

  Step 4: Catch a glimpse of the canal to the left, then take the first road on the right. Stay on the concrete at the start.

• 

  Step 5: Follow the direction of the Loop sign up hill alongside the row of houses.

• 

  Step 6: Keep along this track. Go through a barrier to the left of a gate on a path through Park Wood.
