  Step 1: Start at Beauchief Abbey & walk up the lane next to the golf course.

• 

  Step 2: On the left next to the abbey is the old Beauchief Abbey farmhouse. The farm & its ponds of carp once provided food for the abbey’s monks.

• Step 3: Beauchief, pronounced “bee-chiff”, means “beautiful headland”.

• 

  Step 4: You can take a little detour over the golf course to the ponds. We spotted a heron hanging out there.

• 

  Step 5: Spend some time relaxing by the water. You may hear or see some wildlife if you’re lucky.

•
