Step 1: Begin your walk at the bottom of the park at the Woodseats entrance. From here wander up through the thick woods alongside a babbling brook.
Step 2: The trees here are mainly common alders and in the spring the floor is carpeted with brilliant bluebells.
Step 3: The path forks by a horse chestnut tree and slopes up to the right, and across to the left is an old packhorse bridge.
Step 4: This road was turnpiked by an Act of 1756, and was once a main route to London for stagecoaches and other vehicles until c. 1795.
Step 5: Once around the car park, take the top path across open grassland.
Step 6: In places it's easy to forget you are so close to a city.
