  Step 1: Begin in Beauchief Gardens, then head out along Abbeydale Road South, with the pond on your right...

  Step 2: You'd never guess that this seemingly still expanse of water was used to drive waterwheels capable of powering heavy machinery 🦆

• 

  Step 3: You'll find one of the great wheels at the entrance to the Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet Museum, once a scythe-making works.

• 

  Step 4: At the crossroads, turn right & pass over the bridge. Below, the River Sheaf winds it's way towards the City Centre.

• 

  Step 5: Turn right into Beauchief Abbey Lane, with the golf course on your left & old farm cottages on your right.

• 

  Step 6: You've found the medieval Beauchief Abbey, a peaceful spot that was once the hub of a hive of industry!
