  Step 1: Welcome to Hanwell View Park. On this short walk, we’ll explore some amazing pieces of public art that were inspired by local history.

• Step 2: Let’s start at the cruck arch in the northwest corner of the park. A “cruck arch” is made of curved timber pieces leaning into each other. The same wood root gives us the word for “crooked,” meaning bent or twisted.

  Step 3: Let’s have a closer look at the incredible sculpture representing a Medieval Woman.

  Step 4: Take note of the little details, like the carved cat on one side of the arch.

• Step 5: The sculptures in the park were created by Philip Bews and Diane Gorvin, who were inspired by the history of the local area.

• 

  Step 6: Let’s head to the next sculpture. Walk through the arch and down the dirt path into the park.
