Step 1: This is a 10km walk with a stop in Walton for lunch. We parked at the end point near the Shepperton ferry and took the 461 bus from Weybridge to Hampton Court (40 mins). There are shops & cafes to grab a snack or coffee nearby.
Step 2: Exit the bus and walk to the entrance to Hampton Court. It’s busy with tourists. Cross the road and head over the bridge.
Step 3: Enjoy the river views as you cross the bridge. This is looking down river toward Kingston.
Step 4: On the south bank and just over the bridge there are stairs down to the riverbank. There’s a ramp further ahead if needed.
Step 5: Moseley Lock. This is the first of many non London/tidal locks. Teddington, Richmond and the Thames Barrier are the London tidal defences.
Step 6: At the lock there are well kept public toilets. There aren’t many others so good to take a quick stop.
