• 

  Step 1: Start the walk from Greenfield station (with no step-free access), served by trains from Manchester. Buses from Oldham stop nearby.

• Step 2: Please note that parts of this walk may be damp, muddy and slippery at any time of year and especially after periods of wet weather. Please bear this in mind when planning your trip.

• 

  Step 3: If necessary, cross to platform 1 via the footbridge.

• 

  Step 4: Leave the station and turn right down the pavement of Shaw Hall Bank Road (A669). You'll pass a pub and cafe across the road.

• 

  Step 5: At the junction, carefully cross Shaw Hall Bank Road and turn left, downhill, along the right-hand pavement of Chew Valley Road (A669).

• 

  Step 6: Follow the road as it curves right to cross the Huddersfield Narrow Canal. Enjoy the view of the Pots and Pan monument on the hill ahead.
