  Step 1: Start from the parking place on Sherry Drive opposite St Mark’s School. Cross the road and take the path down beside the bridge.

• 

  Step 2: This brings you down to the trail also known as the miners’ path, as it would have been the route the miners took to the nearby Udston Pit.

• 

  Step 3: The path is surrounded by trees and is a haven for wildlife including roe deer. Pass under the bridge and continue straight ahead.

• 

  Step 4: When you reach this wee copse of trees on your right, take the path past it.

• 

  Step 5: It’ll bring you to some steps.

• 

  Step 6: Turn right at the bottom of the steps.
