  • Start the walk at Carluke train station. Cross the park and ride parking. Lovely views over Jock's Burn woodlands and surrounding farmland.

  • At the  entrance/exit at the Carluke park and ride sign, turn left onto Station Road and head downhill on a short section of pavement.

  • Cross the bridge over Jock's Burn and continue uphill. Note that there is no pavement along this short stretch so beware of vehicles.

  • On the bend you will pass houses on your left. Continue uphill past the houses. Use roadside verges if necessary when vehicles pass.

  • At the brow of the hill you will see the first entrance to Milton Tileworks Local Nature Reserve on your left. Pass this one.

  • You will also see the main entrance with parking for around 6 cars. A circular wheelchair accessible route can be started here. Head in.
