  Step 1: Have you ever wondered whether it was possibly to walk to the Trafford Centre rather than taking the bus? Well, yes it is!

• Step 2: At the time of my walk, the Canal & River Trust we’re hosting one of their Winter Open Days which meant I was able to walk inside the canal. Ordinarily, you will just walk along the path!

• 

  Step 3: Access the canal via the steps by the Deansgate Locks bars, just below Deansgate-Castlefield tram stop, then walk to your left.

  Step 4: It is amazing how much rubbish & material end up hidden below the canal water. We even spotted a wallet & a phone!

• 

  Step 5: As you can see, there is more than meets the eye when it comes to canal maintenance. It was really interesting to see how the work there.

• 

  Step 6: Being beneath a bar, this stretch of the canal ends up with all sorts of things in it. From props from hen dos to cups & traffic cones!
