Step 1: York has more miles of intact wall than any other city in England. The city has been defended by some form of wall since Roman times.

Step 2: Nestled between the river Foss and the Ouse you’ll find Clifford's Tower. In the spring the little first hillock is full of daffodils.

Step 3: Once you get up onto the city walls you can just keep on walking right round York.

Step 4: York Minster is always on the skyline.

Step 5: There are lots of city gates in the wall which you can either get on/off at if you fancy a little explore.

Step 6: A lovely place to end the walk is in the Museum Gardens, where you can find the ruins of St Mary’s Abbey, York Observatory.
