Step 2: Walk past the “Victory Over Blindness” sculpture & head towards the zebra crossing ahead
Step 3: The sculpture, “Victory Over Blindness” is a poignant memorial to soldiers who suffered sight loss whilst fighting overseas. The sculpture depicts soldiers leading one another. Manchester had a convalescent camp in Heaton Park
Step 4: Cross over the zebra crossing towards the ‘butterfly arch’ pedestrian bridge
Step 5: The bridge was installed in 2006 to make crossing London Road safer. It’s thought that it is crossed by around 4.5 million people per year
Step 6: Look down to see London Road & a view towards the city centre
