• Step 3: From the Halle Orchestra to Oasis, The Hollies and Northern Soul to Factory Records and 'Madchester', this is a city with swagger and talent in equal measure and a rich and varied musical past, present and doubtless future.

  Step 4: This walk through several decades of Mancunian music takes us between its two main stations, Piccadilly & Victoria. Both served by Northern.

  Step 5: Turning right on Station Approach, celebrated in Elbow's 'Station Approach' that tells of a traveller's joy on returning home to Manchester

  Step 6: Double back onto Store Street where, beneath the pavements, was the original and spiritual home of the famous Warehouse Project
