  Step 1: We begin this short walk just outside Prestonpans Group Practice. Start by walking toward the junction with Preston Road.

• Step 2: The nearest bus stop, Health Centre stop, is right outside and is served by routes 26, 111, 111A, 124, 125 and N124. There are toilets at the practice.

• 

  Step 3: Take a right when you reach the junction and make your way along Preston Road. The autumn colours had arrived for us. What’s it like today?

• 

  Step 4: Cross a side street and then pass Preston Market Cross, which was erected in 1617 to serve the town.

• 

  Step 5: Turn right at the Cross Cottages and carry on until you reach the entrance for Preston Tower.

• 

  Step 6: Head left to continue through the grounds of Preston Tower, which is open daily from dawn to dusk.
