Step 1: Pride Month in June is a period devoted to the annual observance of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender & queer history, culture & civil rights movements. Follow along today to find key sites of LGBTQ+ heritage in central London.
Step 2: The walk begins in the iconic Trafalgar Square, accessible by National Rail, Bakerloo, and Northern Line services from London Charing Cross.
Step 3: In the 1970’s, Trafalgar Square was the site of several large rallies in support of equal rights for homosexual individuals.
Step 4: These rallies were organised by the Campaign for Homosexual Equality. CHE was one of the earliest and, at the time, largest groups organising in support of gay rights in the UK.
Step 5: When you’re ready, turn away from the National Gallery and use the pedestrian crossing light to cross onto the refuge island.
Step 6: When you’re ready, turn left to cross again whilst taking note of the extra special pedestrian green light signals.
