Step 1: A fantastic place for a walk amongst nature and interesting features. Birkenhead Park opened in 1847 & is one of the first municipal parks.
Step 2: Central Park in New York is based on the design of Birkenhead Park. How’s that for a Wirral claim to fame?! 👍
Step 3: Start your walk from the Visitor Centre. The path for this walk begins opposite the path leading from the centre.
Step 4: Within a few metres you will come across the stunning lake with “The Boathouse” on the edge of the water.
Step 5: Birkenhead Park was designed by Joseph Paxton and opened to the public on 5th April 1847. Paxton, is also known for redesigning the gardens at Chatsworth House in Cheshire.
Step 6: Follow the path around the edge of the lake. There are squirrels and birds often playing among the trees and plants.
