Step 1: Start in Windrush Square. Brixton Tate Library built by Sir Henry Tate most famous for inventing the sugarcube and for the Tate galleries.
Step 2: Cross over towards St Matthew's church. This stone monument was erected by Henry Budd in 1852, it's the burial place of his family members.
Step 3: Exit the gardens to the left of the church and cross over at the lights. You can see a stench pipe which was an escape route for gases.
Step 4: Walk a few yards along the pavement and turn left into the quiet of St Matthew's Road, continue to the end.
Step 5: Walk up Brixton Hill to Somers Road walking on the open sections of Rush Common where possible.
